Its the end of Tuesday people and i have successfully survived my two busiest days. YEY. unfortunately i have my driving theory test on Thursday. If i pass i get to take a mock test possibly letting me take my proper test and if i fail well i have to wait a bit more.
Lessons were fun, history especially. We've moved on to the Tudors now and we did some background on the catholic church at the time. Christ alive they were the biggest bunch of corrupt, manipulative, abusive bunch of retards I've ever had the misfortune to study.
Lets start with the bible. As you probably know the bible was written in Latin initially. As a result only those with a good education were ever able to read the bible. It was easily translatable, but the church refused to let it be translated into English as they feared that if people actually read what the bible said rather than what their priest told them it said, they'd realise what shit they were having to put up with.
Secondly, pardoners. These were people who went around selling pardons. Stole some bread, pay a pound, off Scott free with the lord. Kill your wife and randomly rape various people in the village, pay a few more pounds and your off Scott free.
The catholic church at the time acted like a giant middle man. Theres no point in them they just take half the cash.
rant over in other news I'm watching a documentary on The Life of Brian. When the film originally came out several places banned it as an affront to God. Whats awesome is it shows parts of a debate with John Cleese, Michael Palin against a bishop and this old bloke. the old bloke goes on and on about it being tenth rate comedy and stupid and at one point he says "when i watched it..." Palin interrupts saying "Yes i understand you started with an open mind."
